Today Show Book Club Picks Its Third Book – Under The Wide And Starry Sky by Nancy Horan

On January 23rd, the Today Show announced its third book title for their book club, Under The Wide And Starry Skyby Nancy Horan, best selling author who wrote Loving Frank.

Get ready for a little romance in this historical fiction book centered around the famed Treasure Island author’s life with his wife and muse Fanny Van de Grift.  The old adage, behind every great man, there’s a great woman is the basis for this story of a complex and unconventional love affair between Van de Grift and Robert Louis Stevenson.

The “Today” selections, chosen every four to five weeks, will have stickers on their covers indicating their inclusion in the club. The books, chosen by a team of producers and the show’s co-hosts, will include both fiction and nonfiction, newly released titles and classics. Discussion groups and excerpts will be featured online.

The Today Show announced on October 16 their new selection for their book club, Helen Fielding’s Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy. 

In a triumphant return after fourteen years of silence, Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy is timely, tender, touching, page-turning, witty, wise, outrageous, and bloody hilarious.  Bridget Jones stumbles through the challenges of loss, single motherhood, tweeting, texting, technology,and rediscovering her sexuality.

TODAY Book Club picks ‘The Bone Season’ as its first selection.

Following in Oprah’s footsteps, “The Today Show” is starting a new monthly book club.

The “Today” selections, chosen every four to five weeks, will have stickers on their covers indicating their inclusion in the club. The books, chosen by a team of producers and the show’s co-hosts, will include both fiction and nonfiction, newly released titles and classics. Discussion groups and excerpts will be featured online.

The first book, announced August 20, is The Bone Season, a futuristic novel about a 19-year-old clairvoyant by first-time novelist Samantha Shannon.

Shannon will chat about The Bone Season in a Google Hangout on September 16, which doesn’t give readers too much time to get on board. The book was just released on August 20, and may not be on many library shelves yet. Cheshire Library patrons can place a hold on the book through our online catalog.
